We hope you had a great Easter! A team of 12 of us went to the National Student Television Association Conference and Awards Ceremony in Leeds earlier this month, although we didn’t win any awards, we had a great time socialising with other universities and attending the talks!
Saturday 23rd April 2016 we’re holding an industrial talk, workshop, election of next year’s committee and night out! It will take place in Room 4 starting at 13:00 fb event. Former Station Manager Dan Jackson will be giving a talk about what he’s been working on since graduating. An estimated timetable of the day is as follows;

If you are interested in being part of the committee next academic year make sure you attend the A.G.M part of Saturday’s event to give a 1 minute informal speech on why you want the position. - 02.04. NaSTA Awards: We are heading to Leeds for the National Student Television Awards, we’ve submitted awards in 20 categories so fingers crossed we win an award, the ceremony will be live on LSTV (Leeds Student Television).
- 23.04. Industrial Talk and “Alumnight Out”: Former Station Manager, Dan Jackson will be sharing his experiences gained in industry since graduation, along with a production workshop. That evening there will be a night out for past and present UPSU TV members! Fb event1 Fb event2
- 26.04. Union Awards: The Union is hosting an awards ceremony to celebrate the hard work of all volunteers. We will be there so join us by buying a ticket for £5 which includes buffet, drink, table wine, photobooth and more. fb event buy ticket
We will also be having a general meeting after Easter where we will elect the committee for the next academic year which includes the Post Production Manager, Head of Marketing and Social Media, Head of Live and Technical, Head of Events, Head of Entertainment, Head of News, Head of Online and Head of Sport. An exciting opportunity. We will let you know when the date for this is!
After Easter is usually a quiet period as everyone is busy with deadlines and exam revision but if you have your own idea for a show/project then don’t hesitate to let us know about it!

As we approach the end of TB2, we head into the busiest week of the year!
As you’ve probably heard, felt and smelt, the student elections are taking place this week Mon-Thurs and the results will be announced on Friday which we will stream live! There’s lots of other stuff going on too, if you’re interested in helping out at any of the events just email email@example.com, if you are yet to get involved with us make this the opportunity as we need lots of volunteers this week! Monday 07.03. Candidate Interviews: Student Media groups will be interviewing candidates of the elections in a ‘drop in’ style manner in Room 2 upstairs in the Students’ Union. We will need people to help with filming from 09.00-17.00 and editing.
Tuesday 08.03. Varsity Promo: We’re making a promotional video during the day for the upcoming Varsity Cup, message firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re interested in helping film this.
Tuesday 08.03. Reclaim the Night: Evening to stand up against street harassment, victim-blaming, violence and abuse. Camera Operators needed for the conference and procession.
07.03.-10.03. Voting Week: We need people to help make a short video encouraging students to vote in the student elections. (Presenter, camera operator and video editor needed).
Friday 11.03. Results Night: The biggest live broadcast of the year where the winners of the student elections are announced! Live production crew (Set-up, camera operators, vision mixers, runners) needed.
Sunday 13.03. Varsity Cup: We may be going to the University of Southampton to film highlights of the Varsity Sports Cup. We will be needing camera operators and editors, the footage will be used for the next Sports Night programme.
The next UPSU Sports Night Live will be on Tuesday 22nd March and will be a Varsity summary show; vision mixers, camera operators, teleprompter operator needed.

Hope things are going well, it’s getting to that time of year when things start piling up (both with uni work and TV!). Just to let you know this week we are submitting some of our best videos to the NaSTA Awards 2016 (where we may even win!).
Would you like to run UPSU TV next year? This Thursday at our Annual General Meeting you will have the opportunity to run for Station Manager or Deputy Station Manager for the academic year of 2016/2017, other committee positions will be available after Easter. The meeting will be held in Eldon Building EL 0.20 at 18:00, come along even just to vote. It is a really worthwhile role and looks great on your CV. This Wednesday evening is the Annual JALWA show presented by Portsmouth Hindu Society, it is usually a big event and this year we’re planning on streaming the event live, meaning we need people to camera operate and vision mix, respond back to this email is you are available to help. fb event

Hope things are going well! Every year NaSTA (The National Student Television Association) which we are affiliated with, hosts a weekend where student television stations from across the UK gather for an awards ceremony, conferences and party! This year it’s on the 1st-3rd April at the University of Leeds. UPSU TV have been there for the past four years and everyone who’s been has thoroughly enjoyed it!
